DTU Wind Energy provided it's first PhD Winter School in November.
From 18th to the 22nd of November, DTU Wind Energy offered a PhD Winter School at DTU Risø Campus for the first time. 18 PhD students as well as six industry partners participated in the winter school named 'From Fixed to Floating Wind Farms'.
"The winter school was a great success," says Charlotte Bay Hasager, responsible for the winter school.
The many participants learn about wind farm planning, the hydrodynamic motions of floaters, the turbine control and resource and wake assessment in deep waters. It is cross-disciplinary.
"Floating wind energy is one of the future great challenges from technical and economical perspectives to support society with clean energy," says Charlotte Bay Hasager.
The participants were cosmopolitan with background from four continents and originating from Brazil, China, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, India, Iran, Myanmar, Netherlands, Palestine, Spain, Syria, Turkey and the USA.
This is good advantage as floating wind energy is expected global development.
The course is part of the NOWRIC collaboration.
