When he arrived to Denmark and DTU Wind Energy 14 years ago, he did not think he would become a Professor. However, Nicolaos A. Cutululis cannot wait to take on the new challenges.
In 2005, Nicolaos A. Cutululis moved to Denmark from Romania. The 31-year-old Greek/Romanian/Italian man wanted to work at the best department in the world, as he calls DTU Wind Energy:
”I came to Denmark and DTU Wind Energy as a Postdoc. When the opportunity to work at Risø presented itself, I could not say no to it, because it is the best department in the world in wind energy research and I got the chance to work with world’s best experts,” says Nicolaos A. Cutululis, also known as Nikos.
Professor in offshore wind power integration
For 8 years, Nikos has been working as a senior researcher at DTU Wind Energy. However, as of February 1. 2019, he has been working as a Professor at DTU Wind Energy. It as a position he will have for the upcoming five years.
“As a professor I have an increased responsibility. I just have to work double,” he says with a smile:
“I will be teaching within the field of offshore wind power integration and I will continue to be an active supervisor at MSc and, especially, PhD level. I hope my job as a professor will help to improve the strategic importance of integration as well as put more focus on offshore wind power.”
With the new position as a Professor, Nikos will continue working towards a 100% RES (renewable energy sources) power system:
“In five years I will still be working at DTU Wind Energy, bringing my small contribution to moving towards a 100% renewable energy source electric power system, with wind power being one of the – if not the main – electric power source,” he says.
